A felted bowl is a perfect way to practice true buttonhole stitch, while creating a useful little container for sewing supplies, jewelry, keys, or other necessities.  The key distinction is that in a true buttonhole stitch, each stitch forms a small ‘knot” with a horizontal bar along the edge—rather than the simple blanket-stitch structure.
