Jan McClary Rowell is a handweaver in Albany, NY, and a member of the Hudson Mohawk Weavers Guild. Since childhood she has been working in various fiber arts. In 2004 she discovered the joy of handweaving and has been exploring the use of color, fiber, and weave structure to create cloth ever since. Her work leans heavily into texture and asymmetry. She loves creating something unique and beautiful and sending it out into the world.

When Jan learned about Dorset buttons she found that making them is contagious! She has been spreading the word via classes at CeCe's Wool, various fiber festivals, Brookfield Craft Center in Ct and other venues. Students learn the basics, and choose colors and designs to make the buttons their own.
