Auction Rules & Terms of Participation

By participating in the NYS Sheep & Wool Festival Auction as a buyer, seller (consignor), or both, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

General Terms

• The Auction Committee reserves the right to refuse any item for consignment at its sole discretion.
• All items are sold AS-IS, with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied by the NYS Sheep & Wool Festival or the Dutchess County Sheep & Wool Growers Association.
• The NYS Sheep & Wool Festival and Dutchess County Sheep & Wool Growers Association are not responsible for any loss, theft, damage, or misrepresentation of consigned or purchased items.
• Ownership and responsibility for purchased items transfers to the buyer at the time of sale.
• The auction will take place in the Main Livestock Ring on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
• A valid government-issued photo ID may be required at buyer check-in.
• NYS Sales Tax may apply where required by law.

Consignor (Seller) Rules

• Consignments may be submitted:
  • Thursday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• All items must be in good condition and suitable for resale.
• A 15% commission will be deducted from all successful sales.
• No pharmaceuticals, vaccines, de-wormers, insecticides, pesticides, chemicals, or similar regulated products may be consigned.
• Fleeces are not permitted in the auction.
• Consignors are limited to one lot each of roving, yarn, yardage, and fabric scraps.
• All consignments, whether sold or unsold, must be removed from the Festival grounds by 7:00 PM on Saturday, unless other arrangements have been approved by the Auction Committee.
• All auction entries must be registered no later than Friday at 6:00 PM. Late entries cannot be accepted, as time is required to prepare the auction catalog and sale system.

Pre-Registration Benefits for Sellers

Early online registration of consignments allows items to be promoted through Festival marketing channels, including the website, social media, and member communications.

To qualify for pre-registration benefits, consignors must complete the online consignment registration form and upload any requested photos by the published pre-registration deadline.

Buyer Registration

• Buyers are strongly encouraged to pre-register for a buyer number online before the auction.
• Buyer registration and check-in will also be available beginning at 8:00 AM on Saturday.

Agreement

By registering as a buyer or consignor, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by these Auction Rules & Terms of Participation. Failure to comply with these rules may result in removal of items from the auction, cancellation of bidding privileges, or other actions deemed necessary by the Auction Committee.
