Spend a relaxing afternoon learning the basics of wool embroidery (or crewel wool embroidery) with Stuart Moore's Textiles plant dyed wool embroidery floss and fabric. We will cover all of the stitching techniques necessary to create a small embroidered motif inspired by 18th century wool embroidery. Each student with receive all of the materials needed to create a motif in class as well as a free pattern and all of the materials needed to make a large embroidered pin keep (biscornu) at home.
Prerequisite: Skills required: the ability to read a pattern and follow written and spoken instructions. Any previous embroidery experience is a plus though not required. Not suitable for under 16 year olds.

A material fee of $75 will be collected by the instructor using a link that will go live on 9/19/23. It includes: (6) 20 yard skeins of SMT wool plant dyed embroidery floss, (3) 10 yard skeins of SMT wool plant dyed embroidery floss, (2) Linen stitching cloth cuts approx. 12" x 12" each, (1) Linen cloth cut approx. 10" x 10, (1) Needle set of two wool embroidery floss needles, (1) Solid brass floss card holder with a screw closure, (1) Frixion pen, (1) Card of white sewing thread, (1) Paper copy of the biscornu pattern top and bottom, (1) Paper copy of sample biscornu pattern, (1) 10" embroidery hoop, and (1) cotton stuffing bag.

We also suggest bringing a battery operated light should you need additional lighting.
