In this spinning class we will explore Cashmere, Mohair, Pygora and Cashgora goat fibers. We will discuss the history, geography, industrial uses and the fiber properties of each of these animals. We will card, comb and spin samples of each fiber in their natural colors and some dyed colorsl We will also experiment with blending to make the best use of the special properties of these luxurious fibers.
Prerequisites: Intermediate - Must be able to spin a consistent yarn.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions regarding class content.
There is a $25 material fee included in the price of registration. It includes: A notebook with literature and pictures of the goats. Samples of each fiber and a card to mount samples that are spun in the class. The fee also includes all fibers to be spun and use of my fiber preparation equipment.
Students must bring: Spinning Wheel or Drop Spindle, Fine combs and/or Fine handcarders (IF THE STUDENT ALREADY OWNS THEM - otherwise, they can share my equipment).
