Most wreaths start with a provided core made of straw or other materials but not in this workshop where students will make their own woven willow core with large fresh willow rods.A started core will be provided to each student. Once this core is finished, then weaving will progress alternatively clockwise and anticlockwise, so creating natural pockets in the weaving for embellishments. No glue is therefore necessary for attaching embellishments. Hence, this is a fully recyclable wreath and can be used year round for any occasion. A variety of embellishments in the Fall flavor will be available for class participants.
This is a full size wreath and can be made in any shape: round, oval of square.
Prerequisites: All levels welcome - Good manual dexterity and an interest in willow basketry.
Note: This workshop will be held in a heated tent. Your hands may be in and out of water.

There is a $50 material fee included in the price of registration. The fee includes a started willow core, embellishments and all basket willow prepared for student use. This preparation includes soaking, grading, bundling. Written instructions are also provided.
Students must bring: sharp hand-held pruning shears; bodkin or awl and two old bath towels
