Steeks! Eeks! I cut my knitting! - SOLD OUT

Do you keep your scissors on a floor away from your knitting? Are you horrified and yet intrigued by the idea of steeking? Then this class is for you.

We will learn two ways of stabilizing a piece of knitting preparatory to cutting a steek. By trying it on a small sample, the fear of taking scissors to a sweater you’ve been knitting for months will be banished forever.

Skill Level Required: Beginning- Intermediate knitters. Students must have experience with stranded knitting, must be able to knit in the round using magic loop, dpns or two circulars, must be able to read a chart, must know how to do backstitch, and must know how to do a crochet slip-stitch

Homework: Gauge doesn’t really matter but a very tight or a very loose gauge will be problematic. A tight knitter should use a larger sized needle and a loose knitter should use a smaller size. Students will be given a pattern for a mug cozy upon registration. This should be completed to the step indicated in the pattern and brought to class. We will stabilize and cut the steek in class and pick up sts for the edging. Edgings may be completed later by the students after class. The result will be a cozy for a handled mug.
