In this workshop participants will make a wild and fun market basket using locally harvested grapevine, bittersweet and more. You will learn a hoop frame construction and the technique of random weave to create a basket that reflects a love and appreciation of nature and handmade objects.
The basic form of this project is for a carrying basket, perfect for use at the farmer's market or at home, but it can be adapted to make a decorative orb if you prefer. All the secrets of harvesting, preparation, and storage of vines will be covered and participants will go home with a basket they made with their own hands as well as instructions and inspiration to create many more.
Prerequisites: All levels welcome, but this is a somewhat physically demanding project. Moderate hand strength is required.
Note: This workshop will be held in a heated tent. Your hands may be in and out of water.
Email email@example.com with questions regarding class content.
There is a $40 material fee included in the price of registration. This includes a variety of locally harvested and prepared vines for creating your basket.
