Join Halyna Shepko and learn how to warp and create your own Ukrainian traditional handwoven sash or “kraika” using a backstrap loom. “Kraikas” were worn for protection wrapping the body and were considered sacred by Ukrainians.
In this workshop, Halyna will teach how to thread your looms, choose color combinations and design elements of various regions in Ukraine. Backstrap weaving uses your body to connect to your heddles and weaving, and you get to enjoy a holistic weaving experience.
