Nature offers us all the colors of the rainbow, we just need a little guidance to coax them out. Working with 100% wool yarns, this class explores a little bit of everything in regard to natural dyeing.
We will go over proper fiber prep and mordanting, where to look for colors in nature, and how to create dyes from a variety of sources: roots, bark, fresh and dried plant material, even an insect or two. We will use 8-10 dye sources and create a rainbow of 15 or so colors.
Students will leave with a full sample set of mini skeins of the colors we make in class.
This class is held in a heated tent.
