Workshop Info

Intimidated by socks? Don't be! They're not as hard as you think they are. We'll cover the different methods of knitting socks - from needle management to construction differences, and work on one or more small "class socks" to try out the techniques.

Students will also receive a pattern for a pair of house socks knit in worsted weight wool, and may even have time to begin working on them in class.

Skill Level Required: Beginner - Knitting in the round, decreases.

There is a material fee of $3 which is included in the registration fee.  

It includes: handouts and pattern.

Students must bring:

• Worsted weight yarn (wool is preferred) in a light, solid, color, 100 yards or so. You will need approximately 300 yards for the house sock pattern if you wish to begin those.
• Size 7 needles - one set of dpns, or two 16" circulars, or one long (at least 32") circular with a flexible cord. (Or bring all three if you aren't sure which you prefer.)
• Stitch markers.
• Tapestry needle.
• Scissors.

We also suggest bringing a battery operated light should you need additional lighting.
