Do you love multicolored yarns? Marling is a fascinating way to create them right at the wheel - no dyeing, no having to buy fiber that you aren’t sure what you will get when they are spun up. All the control is yours – and with it, an infinite world of color possibilities!
Students will learn how to make the two types of marled yarns while spinning samples using painter’s and printer’s primaries, and white, black & gray for tints, tones & shades. We will discuss basic color theory as it relates, we’ll have plenty of time for spinning samples to take with you, there will be handouts to guide you and for future reference, and we’ll talk about what to use the finished yarns for. There will also be plenty of samples, both of yarn and finished items, for students to check out for inspiration for projects of their own.
Skill Level Required: Intermediate - you must be able to spin a continuous yarn and have some control over your drafting.
Homework: N/A
