Introduced to fiber arts by her grandmother while in elementary school, Barbara's first weaving was done on a cardboard loom. Nowadays, she teaches historical methods and pattern drafting in an international historical organization, teaches classes at Longtail Knits in Macedonia, Ohio, and is pushing her skill envelope by teaching herself advanced takadai weaving.

Retired after a career of teaching art in the public schools, specializing in grades 1 through 8, Barbara is now snugly ensconced in a second career teaching all facets of weaving. Her current work covers inkle, card, 4 harness looms (floor and table), continuous strand weaving on the triangle loom, takadai, marudai/kumihimo and Swedish band. She also runs a small business called Woven Works, where she sells many of the historic bands she weaves, along with historical clothing and accessories that she weaves, designs, and sews. Although bands are her most frequent work, she also weaves rugs and garment fabrics.
