Maureen Rugar has been Hooking since 1978 and teaching for more than 35 years giving classes and workshops in every conceivable form of hooking, Maureen is not afraid of a challenge. Although her personal preference for hooking is wide cuts, she is also skilled at the art of fine shading and Waldaboro style of hooking.


She has published articles on Oriental Rugs for Rug Hooking Magazine (1990 & 1992), was commissioned to reproduce a rug for Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill Manor in Hyde Park, NY (2016), has taught numerous classes & workshops at local Guilds in New York and Connecticut, including the NYS Sheep & Wool Festival and also at the Caraway Rug School in NC.
