I have been knitting since my mother gave me my first needles and own ball of yarn at age 5. That was over 5 decades ago. Since that time I have knit gloves, mitten, thrummed mittens, sweaters, scarves, a dress and a coat.
I love knitting. I love trying new techniques, patterns, types of needles - just love everything about knitting. I do crochet a mean Granny square, but knitting is my love. With all of my knitting, I have learned that different projects need different cast-ons in order to be the best for the project. I can't wait to share with you some of the different cast-on foundations.
In my non-knitting life I am a college professor who is taking up knitted clothing design with a passion. I leave my house at 5:30 am to make it to my first class as 8 am with about an hour to spare to go through the mail, make sure all the tech works each morning. It can be very cold at that time of day - so I made myself a pair of Thrummed Mittens. Whoa - changed my life. They are a great way to add a layer of warmth and cold air blocking to mittens, letting your fingers warm each other and blocking the cold that radiates from the steering wheel. My mom has a new pair of Thrummed Mittens and loves them too. I think you all will love the mittens once you see (and feel) for yourself how warm and soft they are.
