I love thread and yarn of all kinds, shapes, and colors. I was introduced the Ply-Split Braiding from a friend, and immediately looked at it as a way to use my hand dyed threads in a new way.
Ply-Split Braiding comes from the Thar Desert in India, and was researched by Peter Collingwood. He published a text book and brought it to the textile community. I have been very fortunate to study with Julie Hedges who was one of his students. She opened many layers of possibilities which haven't stopped yet. I continue to work with all types of materials and am always looking for something new to try. I often dye my threads with multiple colors to see what happens to them in different patterns. I am also a weaver, knitter and a beginning spinner. I live by the ocean in the North Carolina Outer Banks.
