Debra MacCrea

Connect and Follow

As a fiber fanatic from birth, Debbie has explored nearly every rabbit hole available, and found a lifetime’s worth of applications to explore. To date, her journey has led deeply into Sewing/Patternmaking/Costuming- with 25 years as Costume Shop Supervisor and 10 years as Clinical Instructor of Costumes at Alfred University.

Extensive research and practice in Natural Dyeing and Surface Design has led to teaching at fiber farms, guilds, schools, festivals and conferences.

A lifelong interest in gardening led to becoming a certified Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, and creating home gardens that include veggies and fruits, herbs, flowers and dyeplants. Additionally, a family passion for reenacting historic lifestyles (for over 40 years) has given rich opportunity for her sewing, spinning, weaving, knitting and dyeing capabilities to be explored further. Apparently, there is no end to this pursuit of the perfect fiber or fabric, in the perfect color!
