This workshop is designed to give students a thorough and intensive grounding in direct warping and hand weaving on a 15” rigid heddle loom.
Learn to warp and dress a rigid heddle loom through the direct warping method. Type and composition of warp yarns, calculating yarn requirements for projects, sett analyses, and fabric finishing techniques will be discussed and utilized during this workshop. Learn how to confidently set up your loom from start to finish, so you can take on any future weaving project.
On the first day we will be making some quick warps designed to gain the skill needed to design your project on day 2. Day 1 includes learning to weave and review a few fun weaving techniques. The second day you will warp an individual project, and weave it off by the end of the workshop.
All looms, materials and tools are provided. Various yarn types will be available in order to gain experience with a variety of natural fibers including cotton, wool, bamboo and rayon.
No experience is necessary.
