Have you wanted to get into natural dye but are intimidated by the wealth of information available and not sure where to start? Michelle will distill the process into simple steps to get you started–from the science of scouring and mordanting to the selection of dye materials.

We’ll work with both cotton and silk using bundle dye techniques to see the range of colors natural dye can achieve. Michelle will demonstrate a multi-step scouring and mordanting process. You will take home two cotton and two silk pieces to wear or gift. All materials and equipment will be provided for the class. Written instructions, equipment list, and natural dye resources will be provided digitally after class (via email links).
