Second Place: Kat Cappillino
"I grew up in Dutchess County and have enjoyed the Festival for many years. I still live and work in the area, as an artist and graphic designer, now in New Paltz, where I received my MFA in painting and drawing from SUNY in 2010. This will be my first time submitting to the contest.
One of my favorite parts of the S&W festival has always been the herding trials, so I chose to feature the border collie (and sheep) in both of my designs.
I used an ipad app called sketchclub to create these digital paintings/drawings and then edited the text and design in Illustrator and Photoshop."
Results from both the popular voting and final judging were extremely close. We encourage everyone to stay tuned for next year's Art Contest announcement, which should come forth later this month.
