Welcome to the New York State Sheep & Wool 2024 Workshop Registration Portal!

BUT... BEFORE YOU REGISTER...Read ALL the information below (even if you’ve taken a workshop before).

1. Understand our Workshop facilities! Festival workshops are great, but our classroom areas are NOT traditional. Some may find them too loud, too cold, too hot, the chairs too hard, the lights too dim.  We want you to enjoy your workshop experience and will give you tips on how to prepare, but be aware that our environment may not be right for you!

If you have special needs, please contact  workshops@sheepandwool.com and the instructor before registering to discuss the possible accommodations..

2. You must be at least 18 years old to register for a workshop. Instructors may allow a minor to take a workshop, but approval from the instructor and Workshops Manager must be obtained prior to registration. An adult may need to purchase and attend the workshop with a minor child.

Children, of any age, are not allowed to accompany parents to classes.  No babies, no toddlers, no grandchildren, no children.  We love kids, but it's not fair to other students, so please be considerate. There are no exceptions and there will be no refunds.

3. Please read and understand our workshop cancellation, transfer, resale and refund policies before registering.

4. Workshops with material fees are paid directly to workshop instructors.  Each workshop description will provide details about materials provided, their cost, and how payment should be made.  There is no onsite ATM on Thursday/Friday.  Material fee refunds, if any, are at the sole discretion of the instructor.

5. Workshop descriptions state the skill level a student should be at to take the workshop. Do not register for a class described as intermediate or advanced if you are a beginner. Contact the workshop instructor if you’re unsure of your level.

6. Make sure you have a plan for getting to the Fairgrounds in time for your workshop before registering.  There is no mass transit to the Fairgrounds from MetroNorth Rail in Poughkeepsie, Amtrak in Rhinecliff, or from the City of Kingston area. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are available, but limited availability could cause you to be late.

7. Workshop Fees include E-tickets for Festival entry on Saturday AND Sunday.  Don’t buy entry tickets for yourself if you are attending any workshops! No entry tickets are needed for Thursday and Friday workshops. You will receive  a code for ONE weekend admission.  Entry tickets purchased in error from the Fairgrounds, in advance or on site, are not refundable.

8. Don't register before the official dates/times. We test the system before we open to the public, and if an accidental registration gets in during the testing phase, it will be canceled and refunded without notice.

9. Be patient when registering. Don’t click “SUBMIT” more than once. You will be charged each time you click (current record is 5!).  It is your responsibility to notify workshops@sheepandwool.com of any overcharges.

10. Avoid “double booking” classes. Review your choices before clicking “SUBMIT”.  Our system doesn't detect timing conflicts. The Festival is not responsible for any conflicts in your class selection that occur.  Please review the refund policy.

11. Waitlists - the system may indicate the workshop is full and you’ve been automatically waitlisted (YOU'RE NOT!!).  Remove the workshop from your cart or you’ll be charged for the workshop.  See info below how to get on a real waitlist.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR WORKSHOPS

TENTATIVE Registration Opening Dates:

To keep our website running smoothly, registration is staggered as follows:

For Thursday (10/17) workshops -  opens July 6, 2024 at 12:01 AM EDT

For Friday (10/18) workshops -  opens on July 7, 2024 at 12:01 AM EDT

For Saturday (10/19) workshops -  opens on July 8, 2024 at 12:01 AM EDT

For Sunday (10/20) workshops -  opens on July 9, 2024 at 12:01 AM EDT

Wendy Jensen’s basket weaving workshops are always a sellout.  Register for just ONE - either Thursday OR Friday.

Returning users - Your “account” with the Festival is still active.  Use your email address and password to log in. There is a link to recover a forgotten password.  If you use copy/paste for passwords, make sure there is a character in the first space.

Have a NEW email address? You will be prompted to create a NEW account.

Non-US citizens - use a U.S. state in your cardholder address info.

Payments for Workshops are made online at registration, using debit and credit cards only. If you were charged more than once for a workshop, contact workshops@sheepandwool.com to request a refund.

Registration:

Once you click “Register”, a workshop seat is reserved for you, and you have 15 minutes to complete your purchase.  After 15 minutes the seat expires from your cart, but you have an additional 5 minutes to finish your purchase. If you do not complete your payment, the workshop seat is added back to the available seat inventory, so that other shoppers may purchase it.

If a workshop appears to be sold out, check back to see current availability, because shoppers may decide not to complete their purchases. A workshop showing SOLD OUT at 8:05 AM, may have a seat available at 8:07AM, depending on the seats expiring from other’s shopping carts. Click REGISTER and that seat now gets reserved in your cart for 15 minutes.

As workshop seats are added to individual shopping carts, the number of available seats gets reduced to avoid overselling. However, due to time lags, seats showing as “available” for a workshop may not always be accurate, and seats may not actually be available. Should this occur, the price of any oversold seats will be refunded in its entirety.

Remember - review your selections before clicking “SUBMIT” (once!) Our system doesn't detect timing conflicts.  Correcting double registrations or errors in registration will be subject to a $10 processing fee.

To be added to a real Waitlist for a Sold Out Workshop

E-mail workshops@sheepandwool.com - include the Workshop name, day and time (if it's offered multiple times),  an email address to contact you if an opening occurs, and if you're okay with us sharing your email address with potential sellers. Once you are notified a seat is available, you will have a limited amount of time to respond before the seat is offered to the next person.

Buying a Workshop Seat For Someone Else

The shopping cart allows you to purchase more than one seat in a Workshop. You may also purchase a seat in a different Workshop for a companion. If you do this, make sure the correct email address is filled in for the companion taking the class. This will ensure they receive communications regarding their class directly, especially if there is a class cancellation or any reason to contact attendees at the last minute. The Festival  is not responsible should an incorrect email address prevent information from going to an attendee.

NOTE: When you "register" for a seat, you are registering one person at a time into your cart. For example, to add a friend to a workshop you just purchased for yourself, you'll need to click “Register” again to add another seat to your cart and then fill out THEIR information as the “Attendee”. You will pay for both seats at the same time upon checkout.

Buying a Workshop as a SURPRISE Gift

Click the “GIFT” checkbox ONLY IF THIS IS A SURPRISE!  Provide YOUR email address as "attendee" when registering the Workshop. The purchaser handles the logistics of the surprise gift -confirmations, e-tickets, workshop information and changes/cancellations are sent to whichever email is listed as "attendee."

WORKSHOP CONFIRMATIONS and NOTIFICATIONS

The Festival uses authorize.net for payment processing and refunds. Your bank or credit card statement may show charges from:  SheepWoolNY or DCSWGA.

NOTE - the seat is not official until you receive a seat confirmation email. Make sure your spam blocker will accept our address - workshops@sheepandwool.com. It is your responsibility to keep your confirmation email - we suggest you calendar your workshops so you don’t forget workshop details and show up on the wrong date or time (it’s happened!)

Seat confirmations usually happen within 24-48 hours after payments are processed, but during peak times it may take up to 72 hours.  NOTE:  Our payment system batch processes once daily which can delay confirmations.

As Festival time nears, you will receive a "logistics" email that will have a lot of important information. Please take time to read it.

NYS Sheep and Wool Festival E-ticket codes*

Will give you entry into the fairgrounds for Saturday and Sunday, are emailed 2 to 3 weeks prior to the Festival and.  Avoid last minute issues and print and/or download the tickets as soon as they are received. Once sent, the e-ticket is the responsibility of the student. Remember - we do not reimburse admission passes purchased from the Fairgrounds.

Note: If you register for a workshop after 9am on 10/14/24, no e-tickets will be issued, but attendee names will be on an “admit list” at the Fairground pedestrian gates.

If your email address changes or you have questions about your confirmations, contact  workshops@sheepandwool.com, as soon as possible.

"I DIDN'T GET..."

If you think you are missing some information, please check your spam/junk folders before emailing us. Also, strict spam blocking on institutional email servers (businesses, .edu, and .org) may prevent you from receiving critical emails from MailChimp. Please register using an email address you  check regularly and  can see messages marked as spam. Unsubscribing from MailChimp prevents you from getting any email from us, including necessary e-tickets and important workshop notices.

Workshop registration problems or general questions should be directed to the Workshops Manager, Karen Santucci - workshops@sheepandwool.com.  Emails are answered within 48 hours, usually during evening hours.  Sending questions or requests to any other Festival email address will prevent your questions from being answered, changes from being made, and may affect refund eligibility.

THE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

Workshops are held in Building D, in heated tents, and in the “Fosters at the Fair” building on the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. General locations are listed in workshop descriptions, but can change. Exact locations are posted at Workshop check-in. Restrooms are not in the workshop building, but are very close by.

Classes held in the tents are usually workshops that use water or are messy, but other types of classes may be held in tents, as needed.  The "floors" in the tents are usually  concrete/blacktop pads, which should be taken into consideration when choosing footwear. Patio style heaters are used to supply heat inside the walled tents, but attendees should be prepared for varying temperatures. Outside noises and noise from other tents should be expected.

Classes in Building D are held in “rooms” created by a pipe and drape system. There are no hard walls between classrooms and there is no soundproofing in the large metal building. Noise from adjacent classes should be expected. Heat is supplied by forced hot air space heaters which add to noise level when used.

We advise students to dress in layers so that they may add or subtract clothing layers for their comfort. Some workshops involve long periods of standing, sitting, or having your hands in and out of water. If any of this might be an issue for you, or you have specific questions regarding details of a workshop, please contact the workshop instructor before registering.

In Case of Instructor Illness:  It may be necessary to cancel a class or several classes due to  instructor illness or travel delays and other circumstances not under the control of the Festival. Should this occur, the Festival will make notification, as soon as possible, by email or via mobile/home telephone number, if provided. Students will have the option of participating in another scheduled class, providing there is space available OR a refund for the class will be given. No other compensation will be provided.  The Festival IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for travel or hotel fees incurred by the student or any other fee related to the cancellation. If the student opts for a replacement class, no refunds will be issued.

Let the countdown begin!!
