In this workshop students will learn the history of the colorful Latvian mittens as they knit a child size mitten in the colors of their choice. Topics covered include: tangle-free stranded knitting (using one or both hands), a hemmed or lace edge, Latvian braid, thumbs, shaping and finishing and blocking., Participants will leave class with the pattern of their choice for an adult size mitten.
Prerequisite: Open to all who can knit and purl and who are comfortable with double-point needles.

A material fee of $15 will be collected by the instructor via Venmo or cash. It includes a folder, handouts, patterns, and a kit for a pair of sample mittens.
Students must bring: Set of 5 double-point needles in US size 3 (3.25mm), safety pin or locking marker, tapestry needle, and scissors.
We also suggest bringing a battery operated light should you need additional lighting.
