This workshop covers the best fiber choices for spinning sock yarn, analyzing yarn qualities that make a good sock yarn, spinning techniques that are suited for spinning for socks, color choices, and plying techniques for durable socks.
Prerequisites: students should be comfortable spinning a continuous yarn on a wheel, how to ply from 2 bobbins and how to knit.

There is a $15 material fee included in the price of registration. It includes: fiber for spinning class samples and handouts.
Students must bring:
working wheel
spinning wheel oil
tensioned lazy kate
4-5 empty bobbins with leader
knitting needles suitable for working up handspun samples (~size 1 or 2 dpn's would work well)
- sock yarn or socks you’ve spun/knitted in the past (optional)
-commercial sock yarn you like (optional)
