This workshop is for the spinner who would to experience starting with washed fleece, preparing it and spinning it into a skein. We will evaluate the characteristics of 4 different wool types and examine the differences in crimp and lock structure. You will prepare, spin and ply your samples into a one of a kind skeins. There will be discussion of how to select, skirt and wash a fleece. You will leave the workshop comfortable working with fleece and an understanding of the process from beginning to end.
Prerequisites: Beginner - Must be able to spin a continuous yarn. No prior experience with wool preparation is necessary.

There is a $20 material fee included in the price of registration. It includes: 4+ oz of bagged and labeled washed fleece from 4 breeds. Handouts and folder.
Students must bring: Spinning wheel in good working order, extra bobbins, lazy kate, niddy noddy, pen for notes. If you would like you can bring hand carders and a flick carder. I will have some to share.
