Interested in learning how to spin your own yarn? This class is designed to cover the basics of materials, how to prepare the fiber to spin, and the basics of spinning on a spindle. In the morning we will learn how to spin yarn using a basic spindle provided during class, and in the afternoon we will learn how to ply the yarn we have spun. An extensive discussion on finishing your yarn for your intended project will follow. This class is tailored to the students individual interest and aims to answer the questions that they bring. The ultimate goal of this class is to extend your knowledge of how yarn is made and learn how to spin it.

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED:  Absolute Beginner

PREREQUISITE:  Positive attitude

NOTE: Images are a representation of the workshop project. 

MATERIAL FEE:  A material fee of $20 (cash or check, please) will be collected by the instructor.  It includes:  2 oz of hand dyed fiber plus class handouts and the use of a spindle during the class.

STUDENTS MUST BRING:  Nothing for this class, but an open mind.

We also suggest bringing a battery operated light should you need additional lighting.

NOTE:  There is no onsite ATM on Thursday and Friday.
