The natural world provides some fantastic colors, mostly from plants, but in some cases insects. Dyers for centuries have been extracting color from plants found just outside their door. This workshop will introduce participants to common dye stuffs found in nature and to some of the more traditional materials that have been used throughout history. The use of mordants will enable the color palette to be expanded and techinques will explore collection and identification, storage, and extractions required to obtain some truly amazing colors.
Prerequisites: All levels welcome!
Note: This workshop will be held in a heated tent. Your hands may be in and out of water.

There is a $25 material fee included in the price of registration. It includes: fee included all dye materials, sample fiber and handouts - Instructor will provide all supplies for the dyeing process.
Students should bring a pen or pencil and wear clothing they don't mind getting dirty/dyed.
