I made my first basket late one afternoon in 1988 after a very challenging day as an elementary teacher…it was a disaster! However, I found this craft engaging and therapeutic...that’s how a now thirty-five-year relationship with basketmaking began. I have increased my skills and love for baskets by continuing to take workshops whenever and wherever I can. Getting to meet so many wonderful people along the way has been an added perk.
I belong to the National Basketmakers Organization and the Northeast Basketmakers Guild. In addition to NYS Sheep and Wool, I have taught basketmaking workshops privately, at Dutchess Community College, at Dutchess BOCES, for the Westchester Area Basketmakers Guild and at local libraries. Providing basketmaking workshops allows me to combine my two passions…weaving baskets and teaching others.
