Novelty Techniques: Controlled Spinning for Unique Effects

Novelty spinning effects make for some very creative and interesting yarns. This class will teach you six different novelty techniques that will advance your spinning to the next level. We will be learning how to spin crepe, knop, loop, slub, snarl, and spiral yarns.

After learning the techniques, we will discuss how to incorporate these yarns into your projects, and how to pick patterns that will show these yarns to best advantage.

This class is for spinners with some experience, as the techniques require a level of control in both spinning singles and in plying that is past the beginner level. Plenty of fiber will be provided for experimenting so you will have a number of samples to refer to when you’re back home.

Skill Level Required: Intermediate spinning skills (ability to control your draft and your plying to produce consistent, repeatable results).

Homework: N/A
